A simple phone call pushed me over the edge. In a matter of minutes, my beautiful day filled with sunshine, pedicures, hair-dos and shopping was not the fun day I had planned. Now stress was added to my agenda. UGGGHHH. Have you ever been there? Then the thought hit me and I made a decision; I gave up stress for Lent.
I researched for what people are giving up for Lent this year and I was hoping, just for fun, to find someone say that they are giving up Lent for Lent.
The Lenten Season is a time of sacrifice; or stop doing something we want. We are to “give up” or replace it with something better. Here is one Tweet I found interesting on the “Mother Ship” website for Lent; a Catholic site. (I was reared an Episcopalian so I gave myself permission to go there.)
“I have given up white sugar and desserts. It is my desire to strengthen my physical/mental body through this act so I can better operate in my faith.”
YES! This is perfect for me with a slight tweak of the Tweet: “I have given up stress. It is my desire to strengthen my physical/mental body through this act so I can better operate in my faith.”
This makes perfect sense to me. Stress is unhealthy for your body and mind just like white sugar. There is nothing sweet about stress. The funny thing is that stressed spelled backwards is desserts.
Although I have crafted my career as an inspirational speaker this is why I decided to write funny books for women. There is way too much stress in this world and we need to lighten up.
Whatever you decide to “give-up” for Lent, do not “give-into” those stressful moments. And all God’s children said, “Amen.”
