“God, where are you?”
Have you ever asked this question when dealing with tough issues? I certainly have. A few weeks ago, a lovely lady told me a funny story that answered her question, “where are you, God?” “I was sick,” said the lovely lady to me after my presentation. “I decided to go to Walmart and walk around the store for my own sanity. I was recovering from a scary illness and had to wear a surgical mask out in public,” she said.
Hen-Pecked Herbert
“Entering Walmart I heard an elderly woman shout, “Herbert, where are you?”” “The elderly “LOL” or little old lady, was pushing her cart and right behind her was Herbert. The somewhat “hen-pecked” Herbert answered in loud voice, “I’m right behind you.” “I smiled at Herbert,” my friend said, “and continued on my therapeutic journey.
About ten minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Surprisingly, it was Herbert.”
Story Continues HERE…
“Lady,” Herbert said,” I don’t know you and you don’t know me but I know you are sick. I can see it in your eyes. I want to pray for you.” “I was literally taken from behind,” said my new friend. “Oh, thank you,” I said to Herbert. “I appreciate your keeping me in your prayers.”“Well,” continued my friend. “ I thought he would pray for me during his private prayer time. Oh, was I wrong!
Between Pickles and Coffee
Right there, in Super Walmart, Herbert put his hands on my shoulders and began praying…loud.” “Don’t get me wrong I was very moved,” she said. “But I was stuck between being touched and being tickled. Knowing that I was standing in Super Walmart between jars of pickles and bags of coffee made me laugh,” she said. “My shoulders began shaking uncontrollably. And the more I shook, the louder Herbert prayed.” “Then I heard, “Herbert, where are you?” Herbert shouted, “I am praying for this sick lady.”
Blessing on Aisle Five
“That is when it hit me; it was the answer to my question, “God, where are you?” I realized that Lord showed up at Super Walmart in the form of a little old man named Herbert,” said my friend with tears in her eyes. I was blessed hearing her lovely story. It was reminder of the power of obedient hands during times of hurt in unexpected places. Pass it on.
