I could not resist sharing this funny photo but the reality is Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez acted with grace and dignity when the Miss Universe crown was literary removed from her head…ouch! Ariadna Gutierrez could have reacted like this picture but she chose to be a class act.
Those of us who have competed in pageants and made it all the way to Miss America, Miss USA or Miss Universe, just for a moment, had a moment of wonder. Maybe we really did win and the emcee messed up. I think there should be a new award given in every pageant- The Ariadna Gutierrez Miss World Peace Award. She could have started a war or tug of war between Colombia and the Philippines.
Actually, Ariadna Gutierrez and Steve Harvey gave us two early Christmas gifts. Steve Harvey took responsibility for his mistake; this is very rare in our culture. Also, Ariadna Gutierrez, Miss Columbia is an amazing young woman. In a post pageant interview she said, “Everything happens for a reason.”
