Are you a Member of the TA-TA Weenie Club?

I hope you are. It means that you are brave, fearless and extremely courageous according to Bill Torrey the author of the book, The Ta Ta Weenie Club. To quote one of Bill’s expressions, hearing his childhood stories will make you “as happy as a dog with two tails.” I asked Bill to explain the definition of a Ta-Ta Weenie; the following is his response. “Ta Ta Weenie was an honor because it meant you were in The Club, though we called just about everybody a Ta Ta Weenie because it was fun to do. If somebody didn’t know what we Continue Reading

Proverbs 31 Woman Renovated (Part 1 of 3)

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30 NIV) The woman described in Proverbs 31 is amazing. As I read this Scripture passage, I believe that she is a combination of the following: CEO, CFO, EMT, PhD, RN, psychologist, veterinarian, domestic engineer, hot mama, gourmet chef, athletic coach, shuttle driver, real estate diva, tutor, master gardener, Marine drill sergeant, pharmacist, Mother Teresa, and a splash of Oprah. How to Be TRASHY in 2019

I have heard the term “bucket list” but the other day I decided a “trash-it list” is more important. Is that weird or what? Here is my theory: If you want an awesome “bucket-list” then first you must know what to trash. Suppose you decide to go on a dream trip but are super-stressed. That wonderful experience may be ruined if unhealthy emotions consume your mind. I know this for a fact! Holy Humor!?

To start 2019, a sense of humor is more valuable than ever. With so many challenges in our homes, communities and at work, laughter is super important. So I wrote, Holy Humor. And The Winner Is…

I was new to the world of pageantry. Interview always grabbed my interest until my pageant coach (yes, they exist, especially in the South) asked me the unthinkable. “Jane,” he said. “Who should win this pageant?” My brain and mouth froze. Seeing the look on my face, my coach challenged me and asked, “Why are you here? Do you want to be the winner or not?” I made the decision to be a winner…at life. Continue Reading

Change Your Life With Amazing Acts Of Kindness

Do you remember this story that was printed in the Tampa Bay Times? In August of 2014, almost 400 people who visited a St. Petersburg, Fla., Starbucks got a break from the daily grind thanks to a woman who paid for the caramel macchiato ordered by the stranger behind her at 7 a.m. This random act of kindness kick started a pay-it-forward chain that lasted until 6 p.m., according to the Tampa Bay Times. By early evening, 378 people had picked up another person’s coffee tab. Linda Cohen is the author of a wonderful book entitled, 1,000 Mitzvahs: How Small Continue Reading

Breast Cancer Saved My Life

While I was speaking at the 50 Shades of Pink event in Castroville, TX, a lovely woman approached me and said, “Breast cancer saved my life.” Her story is nothing short of a miracle. She found a lump in her breast during a self-check examination. After a doctor’s visit, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. But this is not the end of the story. Her surgeon also found a more serious problem- a life-threatening aneurysm. After her repair surgery and breast cancer treatment, her passion in life is to speak with women on the importance of having regular Continue Reading
