The room was decorated in high fashion with beauty and elegance. The stunning table decorations paled in comparison to the hearts of sisterhood joined together in High Point, NC for their Annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon. These are my people and as a humorist speaker I would speak to every single Pink Ribbon group across the world if I could. At the end of the luncheon themed after my funny book for women, “Bury me with My Pearls” I decided to tie a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness around my heart. It was delightful to reconnect with my buddy, Beachy Allen. Someone with a celebrated name like ” Beachy” would guarantee the luncheon would be wonderful. The Pink Ribbon Committee told me they wanted a fun speaker with an inspirational presentation. So my job was to make them laugh, feel appreciated and be encouraged. Many had had a brush with breast cancer; my message was simple and focused on the pearls that we wear. My book, “Bury Me with My Pearls” is about these wonderful qualities we should all embrace. I was so honored to be invited to this Pink Ribbon event to help with the fight against breast cancer. I wrote a little book called, “What Ta-Tas Teach Us” in memory of my sister. Many ladies ordered both the “Ta-Ta” and “Pearl’ book to give their Pearl Friends love and encouragement.
I had to chance to share this funny story about an audience member who had a fabulous sense of humor. This is a key ingredient to fight both physical and mental issues life throws our way.
